These beautiful bright not quite opened poppies represent the vibrant youthful men before they left their homes and districts to fight for freedoms, the Anzacs, the Vietnam veterans, embracing all conflicts of Australia. I like to think that Soldiers at the Park is a reflection of the man he was; the loving happy son, the excited boyfriend, the playful brother and the passionate husband - all before his actual experience of the catastrophes of war. This is a happy painting of true remembrance.
