Everything happens in the kitchen - it’s the heart of the home. I remember my mum making ginger beer and homemade lemonade. When these were made, the day was referred to as just that eg ‘lemonade day’ where picking lemons would happen, squeezing and following the old recipe- actually we never really followed a recipe, she just remembered it and often added her own ‘let’s put some of this in, or let’s add this as it will make it really nice!’ So nothing was ever perfect, but boy did it taste good
